Here are some examples for private tours:

The Friedrichstraße: From riches to rags

In this tour, you will be walking one street only. Sounds simple – but what a street it is! The Friedrichstraße. One of Berlin’s most famous and historical streets. You will see a couple of Berlin’s top sights, such as the Tacheles, the “Tränenpalast” (Palace of Tears), and the Checkpoint Charlie. But what is more, this street connects the new posh shopping quarters of Berlin-Mitte with the its very poorest parts in Kreuzberg. You will see how much the city has changed recently – or did it?

Duration: ca. 3h

The Frankfurter Allee – splendour and doom of the GDR

The former Stalinallee, today partly named Frankfurter Allee and Karl-Marx-Allee, was East Berlin’s greatest piece of showcase architecture in the fifties. But it also was the birthplace of the uprise of the 17th of June 1953 which brought the young GDR to the brink. Today, it is an example of architecture that you don’t find anywhere else west of the Polish-German border.

Duration: 2,5h

The Friedrichstadt: The career of a city quarter

This tour takes you to the Friedrichstadt, an old city quarter in the heart of Berlin. You will learn about its history from being an immigrant quarter to becoming governmental area, site of the Nazi Terror regime to being divided by the wall… and what came afterwards.

On the tour, you will see sights such as the Gendarmenmarkt, the former governmental district at Wilhelmstraße, the former headquarter of SS and Gestapo, the Berlin Wall, and the remains of Berlin’s former largest train station, the Anhalter Bahnhof.

No god, no state - no lease? The Berlin squatting scene

„Why is Berlin so colourful?“, visitors of the city often ask us. To a large degree, it is due to the squatters’ movement which has shaped parts of the inner city in the last 40 years. On this tour, we will give you an inside view of the past, present, politics, and culture of this important part of Berlin’s social life.

Duration: 4-5h
